VIENNA, WV – Ohio Valley University Dean of College of Biblical Studies and Behavioral Sciences Dr. Michael Moss announced that Dr. Kevin Youngblood has been hired as an associate professor of Bible.

“Kevin is a former student of mine at Lipscomb University and has valuable expertise in the Old Testament and preaching that will benefit our OVU students,” Moss said. “He comes with preaching experience from Kentucky, Tennessee and Pennsylvania. After his interview, our students have been very excited to hear that he will be joining us.”

Youngblood’s new duties will include teaching courses in Old Testament, preaching, Hebrew and Greek. Prior to working with OVU, Youngblood served as an assistant professor of Bible at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn. He was also a minister at Jacks Creek Church of Christ in Jacks Creek, Tenn. and Middletown Church of Christ in Louisville, Ky. He has served as an adjunct instructor at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn., and Harding University Graduate School of Religion in Memphis, Tenn. Youngblood has been published as a contributor in The New Holman Bible Dictionary, and is currently working on writing three books.

He earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn. and a master of divinity degree from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pa. Youngblood also has a Ph.D. in Old Testament language and literature with a specialization in the Greek version of the Old Testament from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He has research interests in Hellenistic Judaism, textual criticism of the Hebrew Bible, preaching, and textual criticism of the New Testament and Septuagint.
